Burleigh Heads Soccer Club have agreed to a three year deal with Soccer X to provide a professional service for their junior set up.
With the help of Justyn McKay from Soccer X in partnership with the club, they will look to provide grading of the junior players at the club, as well as a development team in the U8 to U18 age groups coached by experienced coaches.
They will provide professional training and coaching for the little kickers to U7’s who are out of the development teams, provide a stream for U8-U18 with an accelerated skills training program and on going support for the U8-18 parent coaches.
It is a move that the club saw was a right fit for them moving forward.
“We saw we needed to offer our juniors a development pathway with professional coaches. We have had a strong desire for development teams and a structured pathway to senior football via JPL so the timing was perfect,” said club president John Bray.
Having had success in the senior ranks for a number of decades, Burleigh has turned their focus to creating a strong foundation to filter their own players through their system.
It is one that has been adopted with high praise from all involved.
“Our parents and kids are extremely happy with the move. We felt that the time was right to partner with Soccer X,” said Bray.
The club will not stop there, with a number of goals set out for short and long term benefit.
They aim to keep their best players at the club for time being as well as attract junior to the club in the future from the success their program has.
“We want Burleigh to be the place quality players come to develop and provide a pathway to senior football on the Gold Coast and beyond,” said Bray.
With the current program in place, we might get to see the first “home grown” Premier League team with players all made up from juniors from the club. Time will tell.
