The road ahead looks promising for the Tamborine Mountain Eagles Soccer Club. Numbers are increasing up the mountain and there is promise across all junior age groups for years to come.
Due to the ever demanding increase and need of more facilities, the club faces and interesting period ahead.
The Tamborine Mountain Eagles Soccer Club are members of the Tamborine Mountain Sports Association (TMSA), along with a number of other sport clubs and recreational users share the grounds at the Long Road complex.
At present the TMSA receives no ongoing financial or in-kind support from any form of government and the upkeep and maintenance of the facility is done by a band of dedicated volunteers. The grounds have toilets and change rooms but no viewing areas or club rooms.
But, together with the TMSA, and with the generous support from the leading architects Clare Design, Marianne Carter Design, The Abedian School of Architecture and Cardno, the Eagles have produced a master plan that incorporates a multi use club room, sports facility, marketplace and nature scape playground for the site.
The first part of the fundraising has seen a commitment from the Scenic Rim Council and further fundraising has begun to attract state and federal funding for the completion of the project
The benefits will be extensive for the club, as it will ensure that the club is able to generate enough revenue to maintain the facility and continue to provide dedicated skills programs for all members across the clubs.
The grounds are well placed to make use of the natural rainforest surrounds and wonderful Gold Coast Views. Club president Mick Angus cannot express how much this will help shape his club for the future.
“The clubrooms themselves as well as all the other additions will provide a heart and meeting point for the club and enable guests to share our wonderful resource all together.”
The project was first put together by Mick Angus, John Flanagan and the THMSA board with the help of many other along the way. All members of the local area along with the other TMSA clubs, students from the Abedian School of Architecture and Bond University Documentary Class, Lindsay and Kerrie Clare from Clare design and Marianne and Adrian Carter provided the initial concept and drawings for the site.
“All our energy is focused on the current master plan and we believe it is crucial for our development as a club. We are very excited and motivated moving forward,” said Angus about the project.
