The sponsorship landscape has changed in sport recently with the contribution from businesses and organisations playing a key part in the sustainability of not only professional clubs but community clubs alike.
Cross Code Sports Marketing was opened in 2014 after a long process of creating and setting up a concept that was ideal for any sporting club.
Noel Lee and Blair Littlejohn are at the forefront of the marketing company, with over thirty-five clubs through a variety of codes and sports from Brisbane to Ballina. The collective have secured multiple sponsors for clubs, with two of their major contributors actively involved in Football Gold Coast. With the introduction of Club Health and Wellness as a major sponsor this season and Chempro Chemists being on board for a number of years now, Cross Code tailor their services depending on the clients needs.
“We initially meet with a club and assess what they need and where they want the club to go. We ask questions ranging from if they want a quick fix or are they setting up the club for a future. It is then that we can set it all out and can help them achieve their targets,” said Littlejohn.
In securing Football Gold Coast a new major sponsor, the team at Cross Code have a piece of advice for all clubs who are looking at changing their sponsorship landscape.
“Sponsorship has changed over the years. Businesses are no longer handing over a donation. You need to work with the sponsors so they are getting a benefit for their investment, regardless of if it is financial or just being recognised.”
For any club, Cross Code can be the link that they may need to be able to take the stress off the club itself and know that the sponsorship side is being looked after in a professional manner. As the landscape has changed over the past few years, trying to not only run the club and look after sponsorship has become challenging for some.
The best part; Cross Code run on a results based factor.
“It doesn’t cost the club anything until we produce results for them. It is great for a club knowing that they don’t have the pressure in the early stages until we secure the deal. We can help create a plan for your club to move forward.”
