Roles Held: Secretary, Referee Coordinator and Clubhouse Manager
What made you start being involved in the committee? Having two boys I seemed to be at the club frequently and a family involved in sporting club committees. I wanted to challenge myself by taking up something different in my life. The friendliness of the club members and their encouragement to take the step made it much easier!
What is your personal goal for the club? I want to ensure that the club is happy and a family club that offers its members a safe, healthy venue whilst participating in sport.
Favourite Club Achievement (in your time)? The growth and success of our women’s teams and the wonderful atmosphere at the club all the time. Now, the gradual building of a competitive men’s team which gives the kids something to aspire to.
Favourite Holiday Destination? Any family destination that offers relaxation and fun!
Favourite Food? Anything that is cooked on the Robina Soccer Club menu! The best food on the GC!
Favourite Movie? Any movie at the cinema is always a girls night out!
Advice for anyone wanting to join the committee? DO IT! The commitment involved is a tool that helps with personal satisfaction and confidence. You are working with likeminded people who have the club at heart. You are also involved with your kids passion and it sets a great example of community involvement for your children!

Name: Mario Barnaba
Years Volunteering: 11 years
Roles Held: Coaching my son Anthony Barnaba, started soccer at the age of 6, Food coordinator in the canteen
What made you start volunteering? Because my son was playing, I took an interest in the sport and the club where he was. I enjoy being around people and making them laugh.
Favourite Holiday Destination: Fiji- our annual family holiday.
Favourite Food: Being Italian and always cooking, I must admit my favourite food is the Italian cuisine.
Favourite Movie: Too many to mention, but I enjoy watching movies based on trey stories.
Goal for 2019: This year I continue to serve great food at the Robina canteen, keep coaching the tiny tots, watch my son further his refereeing career and try to spend some more time with my wife.
Advice for anyone wanting to volunteer: It is a great way to work along side other volunteers and see great talent being developed.

Name: Nathan Mulhearn

Team/s Coached: Juniors – Runaway Bay, Musgrave, Merrimac, Nerang. Seniors – Tweed United, Robina
What made you start coaching? My brother and sister’s team needed a coach. I was only 13, I didn’t have much of a clue to be honest. I was lucky I had my dad to assist on game day. This current role is the 1stI have applied for. Previously I have just filled a need.
What is your personal coaching goal? Coaching is a hobby. I really love it, so my goal would be for my teams to be as successful as possible whilst being enjoyable for all, including myself.
Favourite achievement (as a coach) Winning the league at Tweed United as assistant to my good friend Dennis Dodd. It came after many years of changing the culture with a good bunch of people. It was a major achievement for all those involved.
Favourite Holiday Destination: Italy
Favourite Food: Chocolate
Favourite Movie: Braveheart
Advice for anyone wanting to coach? Build a network of other coaches. They are the only ones who truly know what you go through. Have fun, and don’t take yourself too serious.

What made you start being on the committee? My Dad was President and asked me to volunteer
What is your personal goal for the club? Upgrading infrastructure to include another one or two fully fenced and floodlit fields to accommodate our growing number of players.
