Southport Soccer Clubs’ Womens Leagues today announce their collaboration with NPLW giant Souths United.
We are excited to welcome Souths head coach Gary French who will join the Warriors as part of the Womens and Junior Girls development program in 2020.
This new affiliation will afford any budding stars direct access to train alongside existing NPL players as the two clubs forge a pathway from a grassroots club into national competitions.
Gary’s vision is to provide Gold Coast girls as young as 8 through to open women access to the Souths United NPL program with training opportunities at our locally based club. He intends to mentor and develop female players in a grassroots club environment with the ultimate goal of them playing at the highest possible level.
With NPL training either financially, geographically or player readiness out of reach for many players, it is hoped that the Souths United/Southport Academy alliance will present opportunities like never before.
Southport has a deep history with women’s football, being the only Gold Coast based club to have had a continual top level team for the past 40 years and the Souths United affiliation will only continue to strengthen that foothold.
Southport Soccer Club preseason training is open to all female players 14+ over the next four Thursday’s with training back in full swing from the 7th January, 2020.
- Thursday 28 November
