In our second profile of the week, we acknowledge the work of Coomera Soccer Club’s Volunteer of the Week, Shannon Buckler! Find out more about Shannon below!
Name: Shannon Buckler
Years Volunteering: 5 years
Roles Held: Team Manager for U14 Div 1, U12 Div 1, U9 Wallabies and Referee Coordinator!
What made you start volunteering? My kids! They love seeing me being a part of a sport they love and helping out.
Favourite Holiday Destination: Anywhere in Australia that I can take the family in the caravan!
Favourite Food: Japanese
Favourite Movie: Don’t really have a favourite!
Goal for 2019: To be more involved within the club and help it become bigger and better.
Advice for anyone wanting to volunteer: Just get in there and ask any of the committee members what you can do to help. Clubs have working bees set up so get in there and give them a helping hand, things don’t just happen by themselves! There is always a volunteer behind the scenes who makes it happen, and we 100% need more of them. It is so rewarding and there is always something that can be done to help. At Coomera it’s such a family set up and I am sure it would be the same at other clubs.
Well done Shannon and keep up the great work!
